Virginia Raised!

I was raised in Virginia where flip flops come out in February, we don't have fireflies, we have "lightnin bugs", we don't have crayfish in creeks, we have "craw dads" in the "crick", "taters" are mandatory, "y'all" is a proper noun, chicken is fried, biscuits come with gravy, sweet tea is the house wine, and you would never ever disrespect your elders.

Day 134

We planted two types of seeds and they are finally coming up!!!!! YAY! This makes me so happy! I really don't have a green thumb, so this is an accomplishment for me. Here is our little sunflower coming up! We planted four and so far two have sprouted.

And here is our green bean! ;) We planted four of these as well, but only one has come up.

Day 133

The day of the dance recital.....finally! All the girls did wonderful!!!! I am so proud of them!

Trinity, Gabriella, and Kristin choreographed their own dance and picked their own music. They did a great job!

Our three little stars!

These pictures were taken by Madison Snapp. She is a young aspiring teenager with her own photography business, Snap, Crackle, Pop! Photography. She takes great pictures! This is Gabriella and Trin during their dance.

Aren't they precious?

Day 132

Grow little garden grow! Our zucchini gets bigger everyday! I'm so excited. Squash is not looking so good and cucumbers are coming along.

Day 131

Today we babysat Aden. He got really quiet and we couldn't find him. Where's Aden????

There he is!!!!! This is his new hiding spot! LOL

Day 130

We went to Jennifer's so the girls could practice their dance for the recital. Jhet wanted to play them some music so they could dance. LOL! He's so stinking cute!

We moved the girls outside because there was more room. They complained about the grass being prickly on their barefoot.

Day 129

In case I haven't told you lately, I just love my sweet Patty boy! ;)

Patty is patiently waiting for Gabriella to drop some of the snack she is eating. He is so funny. He knows that Gabriella ALWAYS drops crumbs and he is happy to help clean it up!

Day 128

Gabriella and I went to Trin's dance recital. I was not able to take pictures due to lighting, so I stole one of Jennifers! ;) There were a few other girls in the recital that we knew. It was nice to see them all dance. Everyone was beautiful and did a great job!!!!

Day 127

We finally got our veggies planted. We planted squash, zucchini, cucumbers, green beans, and sunflowers! YUMMY! I cant wait to see the fruits of our labor!

I tried to throw away Mr. Log, but Gabriella had a fit! LOL She loves this goofy little log. I will let him stay for now, be he will be going soon! I finally got rid of out one eyed frog! He has seen his last days.

Day 126

Sneak Peak!
Tonight we had dress rehearsal for Gabriella's dance recital at church. They girls have worked really hard and have done a great job. I cant wait to see it all put together!

Gabriella, Kaylee, and Siera

This picture makes me laugh for so many reasons! Just to name a few, Jhet jumped in there at the last minute because he wanted his picture taking too. He makes me smile. I just want to pinch his little cheeks!!! The other is that poor Gabriella towers over her friend Trinity! Gabriella has to bend down and talk to her like a little child. They are close in age, but ti just so happens that Gabriella is tall for her age and Trin is tiny for her age.

Day 125

Technology at it's finest!
Today we loaded sky on the computer. Gabriella was able to talk to her friends Sara, Emaly, and Leia Hurst. At first Gabriella didn't say much. I think she was a little thrown off that they could see each other and talk to each other like they were standing in front of one another. She finally started talking and the conversation turned into over an hour! We miss the Hurst family and cant wait to see you guys this summer!

Day 124

It's strawberry picking time!
Gabriella and I went strawberry picking with Shanie and Kaylee. And of course anytime we are anywhere close to Gillis Hill Farm, we HAVE to stop in for some homemade ice-cream! We did that first! ;)

Kaylee got mint chocolate chip, her Daddy's favorite. Gabriella got cookies and cream, I got chocolate, and hmmmmm I forgot what Shanie got. :(

LOOK Jennifer! The sun is shining!!!!! Who would have thought?

The weather was perfect for picking strawberries!

Gabriella loves to pick strawberries, but wont eat them! HAHA She's a strange child, but I love her.

By the time we were don't we had strawberries coming out of our ears! The girls just kept picking them!

Gabriella found a good one.

Day 123

Since Gabriella was enjoying yard work so much, I put her to work! ;)

I only wish I had taken a video of it. It was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time! Bless her heart. She has no upper body strength what-so-ever. It was all she could do to get the lawn mower moving.

By the time we moved to the front yard was getting the hang of it. She still cant turn it around on her own, but we are working on it and she will get there before we know it!

Day 122

Gabriella spent the day helping "Sisa" in her yard. She worked very hard. They moved rocks and made a fire pit, planted veggies, and planted flowers around the mailbox. Gabriella loves to be outside doing yard work....I'm sure this wont last long ;)

Day 121

This weekend we had Pierce. He and Gabriella made this potholder for his mom. It was so sweet to see the two of them working together. Gabriella is really patient with him and enjoys playing with him.

Day 120

Here is the beginnings of my first very own garden! I'm so excited! I'm starting out small this year to see if I can actually grow something. I have been known to kill all the plants around here. So far I have cucumbers, squash, and zucchini. I'm thinking about added some green beans to it. We will see! I pray that I have a fruitful (or vegeful heh heh) garden!

Day 119

My parents came to visit us this week. It was nice to have them here, even though it was a short visit. We stopped by Gillis Hill Farm for some homemade ice-cream! YUM!

Day 118

REALLY?????? I don't know what happened. This shelf has been here for years and hasn't really been messed with nor have I added anything to it. All I can do is laugh and look for a new shelf! ;)

Day 117

I tried to make orange citrus cookies and they turned out....um.... a little off. It is official! There MUST be something wrong with my oven! lol Although I thought they tasted good, shape did not turn out right. They are supposed to look a little like lady fingers. Oh well, I will still eat them!

Day 116

I finally got the corner of my bedroom cleaned up!!!! WAHOO! This was a big project and I am so happy to have it done and out of the way!

Day 115

On Saturday we went to the Homeschool conference and Gabriella saw this weight balance thingy that she wanted. I was hesitant to get it. One person said children love to play with these. Another person said that it was not needed and was wasting money. So, I decided to get it. lol Gabriella has really enjoyed it.

She is constantly playing with it to see which item weighs more.

Day 114

We went to The Parsons' house for dinner on Mother's day. It was a great day. Shane cooked on the grill and was wonderful! The Parsons' family was been wonderful for us. They are true friends and love Gabriella and I dearly. Gabriella has really gotten out of her shell from being around the kids. This is the first time I have seen her try to climb a tree! Wahoo! There may be some country in her yet!

Three little monkeys in a tree....

Thank you for a great evening Parsons five!!!!
