Gabriella's home!!!

WAHOO! Gabriella finally made it home! I missed  her so much and am so happy to have her home!
She is so used to being on the go and didn't want to go home yet. So we had a girly day at the mall with some friends. The girls were being silly and had a great time.

Then we went home to open presents. Gabriella got something that she really needed for school! A big eraser for BIG mistakes! Haha

We had a great first day home! She is now playing her new Wii game.

Blessed to Bless

Most of you know that I am passionate about helping the homeless. This lays heavy on my heart. I had the privilege to read a blog that really spoke to my heart. The basic concept is to make "blessed to bless bags" to hand out to the homeless. I have decided to adopt this idea and would love for some of you to get involved as well, if you are called to. Please feel free to read this blog to get a better idea of what a blessed to bless bag is. http://www.joyshope.com/2010/11/i-heart-big-hearts.htm l am accepting donations to start making these bags to hand out. If you have anything you would like to donate, please let me know. I will gladly accept anything, but here is an idea of somethings that I am looking for:

1 gallon ziplock bags
juice boxes
sample size items, such as shampoo, soap, tooth paste, lotion, deodorant, wipes, cough drops, etc.
peanut butter crackers
small cans of food that has a pull top on it (fruits, canned meats, veggies)
Cheese and crackers
Power bar
Tuna in a bag (no cans requiring an opener)
Vienna sausages
Beef jerky
granola bars, nutrigrain bars
socks
gloves
hats
scarves
lip balm
Small Bibles or Bible tracts

The list could go on! Any of the basic needs that someone may need out of the streets. Thank you in advance for helping with this very worthy cause. Now let's go out there and start blessing some people!!!! ;)

Family addition

Well, it seems like our family just keeps growing and growing. About a month ago we decided to get some hermit crabs. We now have three of them: Hermie, he's super big!!!! Lilly, she's the smallest one. And Crabby, well he's just....."crabby"! Ha! He is a feisty one! You would not think that they could be entertaining at all, but I find myself checking on them all the time! It's fun to see if they have changed shells or moved to a new location.

They really do have a nice set up! The purple sand is my favorite! ;) The crabs love to all pile up under the log and burry themselves in the sand!

Two days ago we added to our family again! We now have a wooly worm. His name is Willie the wooly worm. Ha ha. He is a fuzzy little thing and will hopefully live long enough to turn into a tiger moth.

Here's a close up of Willie.

As each day goes by, I wonder who or what will join our family next! ;)

Gabriella's first sewing project

A few weeks ago we were blessed with a sewing machine for Gabriella. She was so excited and could not wait to get started! She took a short sewing class through our homeschool group and made this pillow! She did such a good job on her first sewing project! I am so proud of her!

Yarn Dolls

We spent our Saturday afternoon making a yarn doll. I had so many other things that I needed to be doing, but it was well worth the quality time with Gabriella!

Gabriella is very happy with her doll. There will be more to come. She already has so many ideas of what she wants to do next! ;)

My first burp cloth!

I made my first baby burp cloth today! YAY! This is my first real sewing project except for the cloth napkins. The curves were a but tricky for me and the seam allowance is not even all the way around. I will have to practice more on those curves!

So I decided to do something a little constructive this weekend. I picked up a crochet needle first the time since January, and it shows!!!! LOL I made a very wonky, but functional dishrag! Keep an eye out for more postings, I'm feeling a bit crafty all of a sudden. Now on to the next project....

Home made chicken nuggets with puree

As most of you know Gabriella is a VERY picky eater! I have been battling with her to eat healthier. It is not going so well. So, I take every opportunity I can to get her veggies in! I made home made chicken nuggets with broccoli puree, fiber one cereal, and flax seed meal. Not sure how good it's going to taste, but hopefully she will eat it. ;)
Coat chicken in egg and broccoli puree (ewe!) lol

Next dipped in fiber one cereal, flax seed mill, and spices.

Here is the finished product. I certianly hope she eats them!

I finally started sewing!!!!

Jacob put together my sewing table.

The finished product! Great job Jacob!

After ALOT of help from Christi, I successfully finished two cloth napkins. I think I'll keep practicing on the napkins for a while before I move on to something more complicated! ;)
